Station Manager: Brian Talley
WSMI-FM is back online with live sports broadcasts.
We have improved the speed of our internet connection. Please remember that we recommend a high speed connection on the listeners end (i.e. DSL, Cable Modem, or Wireless) for an uninterupted listening experience. Frequent buffering is a sign that your internet connection may need to be faster.
Podcasts of our sports broadcasts can be found at:
http://www.wsmiradio.com/sportspodcastarchive.php.
Just click on the game that you'd like to listen to. When the page for that podcast opens, please click on the triangular play button. You may also subscribe to the Podcasts with your favorite RSS software, (i.e. iTunes). These are very large files. We recommend a high speed connection like: DSL, Cable Modem, or Wireless.
Both listening online live and our sports podcasts are in addition to the broadcast on the air. Please remember that locally you may listen to the broadcasts on your radio at 106.1 on your dial without the need for a computer.
UPDATE: Our friends at Network1Sports have given us this information:
Important Notice: Windows has released an update that is causing a username/password to be asked for when there is no stream. If you see this, it is because the station you are trying to listen to is not streaming at the moment. Please check the game time and check back at the proper time. There is no fee for live broadcasts.
This message may also appear if the stream stops. Please close your player and click on the listen now button.
We've also seen this error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")." This message also appears when the station is not streaming. Please check the game time and check back latter.
Thank you for listening to WSMI-FM's local sports online!
Welcome to WSMI-FM's new live online broadcast page. This season WSMI-FM, 106.1, will broadcast our high school sports so that you may listen online. The online broadcast will be the same broadcast that's airing live on WSMI-FM. Network 1 Sports will provide the online broadcast facilities to allow listeners everywhere to here local high school sports from Mid-Illinois. We are very excited that we can bring this service to families of our local athletes who live outside our broadcast area, men & women serving our country overseas, and everyone else around the globe who's interested in hearing our local sports broadcast.
Network 1 Sports will be archiving our games for playback at a future date. I'll update our blog when those games become available in the archive section of the Network 1 Sports website.
Please check our website at http://www.wsmiradio.com and click "Sports Online" or our "Sports Schedule" to check for upcoming games.
